We had a great time in Florida with Mary, our daughter, and family. Christian graduated from H.S. Ashley was 'pinned' as a CNA and Garrick won several Trophies in Minors Baseball and for his music ability on the Violin, as well as, graduating from 5th Grade.
Now for some very important business. Serious Spiritual business.
Those of us who are Christians ie. Have taken the name Christian and desire to honor God in our lives and have the desire to be like Christ. We have read, many times, the passage in Philippians 2:11 about being like minded, as Paul puts it. Having the same mind or attitude as that of our Lord.
This brings us to an important consideration... If we are going to be like Jesus we need to look at his life on earth from every aspect:
Beginning with his birth.
He obviously trusted his Father from the beginning. He did not fear what would happen if he entered the world as a tiny helpless vulnerable Baby. He put reverential trust in His Father to protect him as a baby- how could he be more vulnerable? Did God protect him? Yes, in many ways and many times over. In the stable, on the way to Bethlehem from Nazareth. God always keeps His promises. Proverbs 3:6 & 7 states "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and He will direct your paths."
Let's look at this hypothetically. Can't you just hear the conversation between the Father and the Son as they discussed the events of Jesus coming to earth. "But a baby, Father? How will I protect myself? Will Mary and Joseph realize the enormity of their responsibility to protect me? Their precious bundle? your only Son? What if they drop me? What if someone tries to kidnap me for a ransom? Isn't this rather risky?"
I don't really think they had this conversation, do you? Instead Scripture indicates that they (God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit) planned the whole birth, Life of Jesus, Salvation and Eternity before the beginning of time. This shows the Reverential Trust that Jesus had in His Father.
What does that mean to us? How about our worries and cares? Does this seem like the way we should act or think. Going back to Philippians.. and living 'like Christ'. It behooves us to take another look at the 'Reverential trust' that Jesus showed toward Our Father. Meaning as sons of God we are the adopted sister and brother of Jesus, thus God is OUR FATHER along with Jesus his Only begotten Son. Praise be to His Holy Name. Let's trust in the Lord with all of our heart and mind and strength. He is truly to be praised. "He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on God." Isaiah 26:3
